Snowed In, sort of part 2

Finally the snow is over now we just have to clean it all up. well one good thing is we should have a white Christmas this year.

Snowed In, sort of

Not really snowed in but I am not going any where since I don't need to. Being from Upstate NY I am used to snow but when it snows in WV it brings everything to a stand still, I think they only have about 4 plows around here though. we had 20" by mid afternoon and its still snowing now. I have forgotten how much work shoveling snow can be. Well I cheated I have a snow blower but still a pain. It is pretty though. I am on vacation until after Christmas as well as my wife so we can wait out the snow.

Service Work Sucks

I hate residential service work with a passion, I always have, I would much rather be doing new work or service work in a commercial environment. I have seen so much over the last 16-17 years of doing electrical work some of it can make you sick.

This is really nothing here just some dirt but the fact of the matter is how someone could let this get this bad?

well here we were sitting here enjoying the day and my wifes cell phone beeped. So she gets up and looks at it and low and behold a text message I sent her on the 9th. talk about delayed that message must have gone to Mars and before getting delivered. Thats not the first time its happened either. My company cell phone does the same thing from time to time and thats a different carrier.

I ran across this today This is absurd to me. I hope this man fights this to the end. I hope all the publicity he has received benefits him. This is the problem with our country our veterans are forgotten and everyone seems to forget the sacrifices they have given so that we can remain free. Some HOA's have the most ridiculous rules I have ever heard and I hope someone sets this one straight.

Hey to everyone who is going shopping today have fun, I will stay home and miss all the fun. My sense of adventure has some what passed with age I suppose. Hell just going to Walmart on a normal day is enough of an adventure to me. Its somewhat like going to a Circus they have the bearded lady and all.

Finally a day off, yet a day filled with activities as usual no relaxing for me. I suppose this is how I will feel later on today. Yesterday was my last 10 hour day so I can get back on schedule with my blog now since I will have some more time to devote to it.

Bing Blunder

Ok so I was looking at something on Google maps for my mom today and it wasn't working so well so I decided to try the new Whoopty do Bing site, Ok I found what I was looking for and decided to have a look around my old stomping grounds and see whats changed. Well apparently not much in 13 years. Oh wait thats just the pictures they used, see the Van in this picture is my old work van that was disabled and it went to the junk yard about 13 years ago if memory serves me right.

So then I had to look more and when I looked at my parents house I found those pictures to be pretty old as well. I don't expect the pictures to be taken yesterday by any means but 13 years is pretty sad most of what I have seen in Google maps is at least from the last 3-5 years. Maybe I expect to much but at any rate I got a trip down memory boulevard today.

Finally Some Rest

My week has finally come to an end now I get three days off to relax, This job is really wearing me down maybe since its a different schedule from what I am accustomed to.We are working four ten hour days and it seems like I don't ever see daylight except at work. I have to admit I enjoy the extra day off its just that during the four days of work I am really drained.

TV Sucks

What has happened to TV? Tonight I was watching Commercials on TV and they kept breaking in with this TV show geez I cant even watch commercials without interruption any more!!! Has anyone else noticed how the more popular shows have more and more commercials? Why is it if we have to pay to watch TV we have to watch so many damn ads? I think if you pay there shouldn't be ads. I am really thinking about ditching my TV subscription and using my TV for a really big computer monitor.

Now I Have Seen It ALL

All I can say is WOW, I can't wait to see someone dragging one of these out of Wolly world. Guess they will sell anything.

Geez Its kind of become a one stop shop now you can go to wolly world get a coffin a shovel and a six pack to celebrate for your deceased loved one! I wonder what they will think of next? HMM I wonder if you can rent the hearse from them as well? Oh here is a thought maybe they are just getting ready for black Friday.

This morning while watching TV my cat came to see me and I noticed this sticker on her. I suppose you just have to know the cat to get the humor in it. Normally when she gets something stuck to her fur she has a fit but she hasn't noticed this yet.

Holidays

Well in our lives everything has become so quick , from fast food to oil changes. So this is fitting in my opinion. Lets just get it all over with at once decorate once and be done with it.

Work and more Work

I have been working completely different hours and it has sort of cut into my time I get to spend on here. This weekend will be more normal so I am hoping to have more time to get some post's up. I have been on 10 hour days and by the the time I get home and eat dinner I hardly have enough time to do my Entre drops let alone write any post's. Needless to say this is probably what my cat is thinking.

One thing I don't understand is why they would they close the forum since its a place where everyone can voice opinions and ask questions and so on maybe they didn't like what they heard?

Busy Few Weeks

Sorry for my lack of post's but I have been rather busy between work and some home remodeling. I was wondering what fellow Entre card droppers are thinking about the new paid ad situation? I DO NOT want paid ads on my site and refuse to $50 to prevent them from showing up so I suppose that only leaves one option.

 For now I will continue to drop as usual and give it a few days to see what happens. I plan on using blog explosion again if need be.

Childs Play

After almost twenty years in the construction field I have seen a lot and this is the typical sort of childish behaviour we see a lot of when one trade such as plumbers, carpenters or whoever get mad at another trade. I am only giving an example here not putting anyone down but this happened on one of our job sites today.

I suppose someone could have just cut the toggles off these switches out of sheer boredom if that's the case they should get to work. This is half the reason why prices of houses and things can go up contractors have to put a buffer in their price to absorb things like this when and if they happen. This was only one group of switches they destroyed. Now the best one is this fire alarm panel they just cut all the wires off. This was the same building as well. We did not do the fire alarm wiring in here but we figure whomever destroyed the switches didn't know this and figures they would mess up anything electrical they could.

Down In The Swamp

Me and my wife walked out near the swamp in upstate NY at my mom and dad's house, there are so many things to see and hear.

This area is normally under water and this stump is now exposed, we thought it was neat how it looked after being under water for god only knows how long.

Today me and my wife were walking in the woods and this mushroom cought my attention standing there so perfect.

Here is a Deer we saw that was looking back at us, He was not afraid of us in the least bit.

Finally the Weekend

What a long week I am ready to fall asleep standing up. We had an interesting day today, we arrived at our second job location of the day at about 11:00 am , it was to finish the electric in the basement of apartment building for use as storage units. well we carried all our material inside and started working on one end of the 30 some storage units. after about an hour my apprentice and I got ready to take lunch and decided to have a look on the other half to see if we had everything we needed. That was when we discovered that the landlord had one more tenant than he knew of.
This is one spot where someone had been staying recently in a back corner of this dark dismal basement. Its very close to I-81 and an on ramp. Its not unusual to find a homeless person at your job site but most of the time they don't take residence inside a building were work is in progress or at least around here they don't.

what I am up to

I actually did this post from my Palm Treo just to make sure i had it set up right this was a house we wired very close to Gettysburg PA 11 miles away I think. That's part of the reason I didn't post much this week because its about 60 miles one way for me.

More Camping

A few weeks ago when we went camping we did a lot of hiking. I was going through some pictures and found this old building we came across while hiking.
I find it exciting to find unexpected things when hiking. It also makes you wonder how people got things so far back in the woods to build all this since there is no trace of any road beds any place.

More Christmas In July

I promised a better picture of Santa and here it is. I guess its very strange when you see this it sort of catches you off guard.

I noticed this puzzling Santa standing near a what appears to be a garden the other day, looks more like a hayfield if you ask me, anyhow it sparked my curiosity as to why it was there? Did whom ever put it there just get lazy and set it down to deal with at a later time or was he left there from last Christmas? or possibly he was put there for a specific reason? I will have to keep an eye on St Nick and see if he stands his ground or moves on. I will have to get a better picture of this also, all the grassy area used to be lawn at one time.

I Smell A Rat

So the mail comes today and low and behold there is AN OFFER YOU CANT REFUSE! The handymans club of America has sent my wife a rather large envelope stating she can get and keep free tools to test for them for only $1 a month. BUT wait there is more you can get their great magazine too and become a lifetime member! Now I wasn't born yesterday (it would be nice to be a few years younger though) but nothing in this lifetime is free. So I went searching the Internet to see who these clowns were. Everything I read about the place spelled SCAM although for a moment I thought how nice a new circular saw or some cool tool would be but then reality my wife smacked me. My guess is they send you some Dollar store item judging from what I read on the one scam page. As for me I only buy brand name tools since I use them on a daily basis with my job and yes it can get expensive but necessary to keep my job. So if anyone gets one of these packets in the mail BEWARE and read up before you do anything.
oh and how do they know she is handy? and shouldn't it be HANDYPERSON? They even gave me a pretty self addressed envelope so I thought I may send them something in return since they took the time to send me something and all.

Up The Trail

One part of our hiking last week took us on part of the Appalachian trail



We came across this day use shelter on our way through the woods. We saw a lot of wildlife in this area.This deer was not worried about our being there in the least bit.

Stupid People

Last night while me and my wife watched TV one of those (Breaking News) messages came across the screen, the news story isn't the issue here its the idiotic reporters who where trying to question the lady giving the interview on the breaking news. I would really like to know where they get some of these reporters I understand everyone needs a job they are not all bad (the reporters) and some choose that as a career. But last night as we watched a fellow asked the woman a question and she told him she did not have that information and she moved on to the next person so what does that person ask her? THE VERY SAME QUESTION the guy before asked that she said she did not have the information on! what did he think she has esp and magically retrieved the answer from someone who knew in the 5 seconds since she said she did not have the answer? I guess I don't watch enough TV to see what's going on like this since we very seldom watch the news but it seems to me some of the questions they asked this poor woman had no bearing on what news she was trying to give them or they were just plain dumb questions. Wow the gene pool becomes more polluted every day. I guess I will just leave the TV off tonight to keep my blood pressure down.

Peaceful

We took this while on vacation, It was an incredible view, I would love to have a view like this to wake up to every day. After living in such a populated area for the last 14 years I have forgotten how nice it is to be out in the middle of nowhere. It would be nice to live in an area like this but I wouldn't want to have to drive 2 hours to get to work.

Camping

We had a great time camping and hiking the last few days I took a lot of pictures that I will be sharing with you over the next few days. We went to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia and stayed at one of the camp grounds.
This last picture was from the top of Bearfence Mountain this climb is well worth it as long as you are not afraid of heights.

Vacation

I just want to let everyone know if I missed any drops we are going camping for a few days so I will not be doing any drops, I will resume in a day or so. I will be posting from my cell if it works ok.

Side Walk Repair

Yesterday was spent moving part of my side walk that was too close to a tree so that we were able to walk on it once again.over the years the tree had grown up and overtaken our side walk.
I remember putting this side walk in about nine years ago and it was very hot out as was yesterday. Now we can actually use our side walk again.

My Visitor

This guy came out to see us at lunch time, just an ordinary Black snake they mean no harm to anyone. He must have decided that it was safe to venture out when the job site became quiet during lunch so I helped him on his way and moved him to a nearby field so he wouldn't be injured or killed.
