Nasty Weather day


Well we got some snow then rain from this big storm on the east coast it really didn't amount to much except making a big mess. However my mom and dad are really getting some snow in upstate NY she just emailed me some pictures.The one down bellow is from Upstate NY. I almost wish I was up there so I might be able to go ski some.























This is from my weather station, now we have wind to deal with. it will dry things out fast but you can hardly stand up out there now. 38 mph gust's.

Is Windows a Virus


Is Windows a Virus?

No, Windows is not a virus. Here's what viruses do:

1.They replicate quickly - okay, Windows does that.

2.Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so - okay, Windows does that.

3.Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk - okay, Windows does that too.

4.Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems. - Sigh.. Windows does that, too.

5.Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow (see 2) and the user will buy new hardware. - Yup, Windows does that, too.

Until now it seems Windows is a virus but there are fundamental differences: Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature.

So Windows is not a virus.

It's a bug.

Well this is why I use LINUX.

Glad I Am AN Electrician


This weekend started out with a trip to home depot, (my wife always has an ulterior motive) anyhow it has turned me from electrician to plumber, carpenter or plain general handyman. I sort feel like Schneider on One Day AT a Time.
I can say I am glad I did not choose plumbing as a job after repairing the toilet in our main bath. It is pretty simple to fix its just the thought of what exactly a toilet is especially this time of year when you have sick kids. Makes me wish I went to college more when I was younger. next time she can call a plumber. Hey if there is any plumbers reading this YOU DON'T GET PAID ENOUGH, ok enough of that I am going to take a shower with some bleach.

One Smart Cat


Today Kallie decided to show me just how SMART she really is. we have known she uses the toilet for a while, normally she would make sure nobody was around when she did though. I have no idea how she picked this up or what lead to her using the toilet but hey its better than cleaning a litter box. now if I could only teach her to flush!

Now This Is Ugly



Today was pretty much a normal day and as usual we had to go to both our job sites, its a pretty good drive, anyhow we went all back roads trying to cut time and near a farm we saw a group of Turkey buzzards. I have seen many of them over the years, however I have never been this close to one before. I can say they are one ugly creature.


I wasn't able to get a good picture of all of them so these will have to do. We discovered they had a rabbit that had been hit by a car and we think this one was staying close because when we happened to drive up they abandoned their food and were waiting for us to leave so they could finish their meal.

  • E represents volts
  • I represents amps
  • Eff represents motor efficiency
  • PF represents power factor
  • If PF is not known, assume 0.85
  • If Eff is not known, assume 0.90

·To find Amps when Horsepower is known:
Amps = (hp × 746) ÷ (1.73 × E × Eff × PF)

·To find Amps when Kilowatts are known:
Amps = (kW × 1000) ÷ (1.73 × E × PF)

·To find Amps when Kilovolt Amperes are known:
Amps = (kVA × 1000) ÷ (1.73 × E)

Electric Heaters



Today we worked at one of our other jobs going on, it is rest rooms at an athletic field. We installed this heater it was the last of three we put up. We put the lights in the other day, this is probably the best this place will ever look, after they start using this place they expect it to get torn up the first time they use it for a sporting event. I can tell times are getting tough the general contractor who did this job is laying off some of his guys. I have dealt with them for the last 11 years and this is the first time I have ever seen it happen, they are also one of the larger contractors in our area. I know I don't have anything to worry about with my job thank god, we are still busy maybe not as much as we wish but we have work. I sure hope things turn for the better now that we have a new president.
